During the first three quarters of this year, Southwest China's Guizhou province generated 604.81 billion yuan ($94.47 billion) in total retail sales of consumer goods, an increase of 16.1 percent year-on-year.
The growth rate was 3.3 percentage points higher than the national average.
From January to September, Guizhou's consumption in sports and entertainment products increased by 197 percent year-on-year, books and magazines increased by 43.1 percent year-on-year, building and decoration materials increased by 40.7 percent year-on-year, furniture increased by 39.7 percent year-on-year, gold, silver and jewelries increased by 30.7 percent year-on-year, and autos increased by 6.2 percent year-on-year.

To meet upgraded consumption needs, Guizhou will develop urban business areas, introduce famous commerce enterprises, and establish business complexes and night consumption clusters in main cities.
Guizhou will also help Guiyang develop into an international consumption center, encourage the establishment of regional consumption cities, and add two provincial commercial pedestrian streets and five large-scale business complexes per year.
