The three major railway stations in the city of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 366,000 passengers from Sept 18 to 21 during the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

The Guiyang North Railway Station and Guiyang East Railway Station accounted for over 82 percent of all passengers among the the three major railway stations, showing that high-speed rail has become the preferred method of travel.

Traffic during the four days peaked on Sept 19 with 123,200 passengers.

To transport passengers safely and on time during this busy period, the Guizhou railway department added 46 high-speed and regular trains, which increased daily transportation capacity by some 30,000.

The annual travel season will last from Sept 28 to Oct 7 as the National Day holiday approaches.
