Southwest China's Guizhou province issued a three-year plan on Sept 6 to accelerate the construction of a smart hospital.
According to the plan, Guizhou will develop hospital information systems to allow for the sharing of electronic medical records and mutual recognition of medical examination results.
With the help of big data, artificial intelligence, internet of things, 5G, and blockchain, Guizhou will encourage the development of wearable devices, smart health equipment, smartphone apps for medical treatment, surgical robots, and smart auxiliary systems for diagnosis.
The province will develop an all-in-one online and offline medical service model, providing online services such as reservation, medical treatment guidance, settlement, payment, and medical examination results to shorten waiting times for patients.
It will also continue to optimize remote medical treatment systems at the provincial, municipal, county, and township levels to allocate high-quality medical resources.
Public hospitals above county-level are encouraged to establish internet hospitals and offer online medical services for common diseases, consultations for chronic diseases, other health consultations, health examinations and evaluations, psychological counseling, and more.
Guizhou's health QR code will become a certificate for patients to receive medical treatment at hospitals. By the end of 2023, patients will be able to see doctors at all public hospitals in Guizhou using the code.
Hospitals are also encouraged to use intelligent systems to manage their business operations, finance and medical waste, as well as to protect medical data and patients' privacy, establish data centers, and realize full 5G coverage.
