Liupanshui to host 11th Guizhou provincial sports games in Aug 2022

According to the information office of the Guizhou Provincial Government, the 11th provincial sports games of Southwest China's Guizhou province will be held in Liupanshui city on Aug 8-18 next year.

The games will include winter sports events for the first time. Taking advantage of Liupanshui's ice and snow resources, events such as curling and cross-country skiing will be held to raise the public's awareness of winter fitness and explore the integrated development of sports and tourism.

Unlike previous incarnations, next year's games will have enriched sports events that are divided into competitive sports and mass sports. The competitive sports division will have 24 events, while the mass sports division will have 35 events in addition to the opening and closing ceremonies.

It is the second time that Liupanshui has been selected as the host city of the provincial sports games. The city has established a work committee to begin preparing for the games.

The committee has examined the construction plan for the competition's eight venues to ensure they are completed on time. It has also investigated the city's accommodation capacity, transportation services and pandemic prevention and control capabilities.

Currently, Liupanshui's downtown area has more than 3,700 hotel rooms with 5,500 beds, 6,400 restaurant seats and 2,400 parking spots. All the hotels are less than 5 kilometers away from the competition venues and can meet the accommodation and dining demands of attendees.

Liupanshui is also upgrading the hardware and software conditions in hotels and training staff members to ensure professional reception services during the sports games.
