Kapok flowers bring color to 'Flower City'
The kapok flower, the city flower of Guangzhou, is in full bloom across the city as spring arrives in the capital of Guangdong.
Kapok trees flower in mid-March. This year, the relatively warm winter caused the plant to bloom weeks ahead of time, and some even blossomed before the Spring Festival.

Tramcars, shuttling along the picturesque Pearl River, are helping promote the red blossoms among passengers. They have been dubbed the "trains to spring" due to the kapok paintings inside the cars and the kapok-filled scenery outside.
The best places to admire kapok flowers in Guangzhou are Lingyuan West Road, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and Yuexiu Pak.
