Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) ranked sixth nationwide in the recently announced top 50 ranking for comprehensive evaluations by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The ministry also announced the top 20 rankings for six individual evaluations. The rankings are a comprehensive evaluation of 178 national high-tech zones for 2024. 

OVC excels in industrial output value, revenue from high-tech industries, enterprises' R&D investment, per capita technology contract turnover, number of high-quality enterprises, and its business environment.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has called for national high-tech zones to focus on developing high technology, achieving industrialization, and building first-class high-tech parks and innovation hubs. The aim is to achieve high-level technological self-reliance, advance new industrialization, and strengthen the technological foundations of China's modernization.
