Forum breaks records with unprecedented attendance and deals

The 2024 Optics Valley of China • Optoelectronic Information Industry Innovation and Development Forum recently concluded in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province. The forum brought together 13 renowned academicians from home and abroad, over 100 young and mid-career scientists, more than 300 company leaders, and over 600 distinguished guests.

The three-day event, covering an area of 20,000 square meters, attracted over 370 star enterprises from around the globe, with more than 82.5 percent of them being companies from outside Hubei. It also drew over 46,000 professional attendees, and the 20 concurrent events attracted more than 300,000 online viewers.

During the forum, the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) signed agreements for 10 major projects with a total value of approximately 38.63 billion yuan ($5.45 billion), the most in the event's history. These projects span several sectors, including semiconductors and technical equipment.

The Hubei Optoelectronic Information Industry White Paper released during the forum shows that in 2023, Hubei's electronic information industry achieved revenue of 820.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.2 percent.

The forum received extensive coverage from over 80 authoritative media outlets, including Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, China Daily, and CCTV, with more than 500 news reports published.
