Over the last eight years, Wuhan Prime Meridian Co, a startup company in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), has rapidly grown into a leading domestic internet medical and health enterprise.
It was recently selected as a unicorn company, thus achieving a five-year streak.
Going back to 2015, the company's founder, Li Meng, who was born into a medical-oriented family, noticed that the traditional multi-level wholesale distribution model for pharmaceuticals was inefficient, with constant reselling leading to persistently high drug prices.
Today, the digital pharmaceutical supply chain integrated service platform, Xiaoyaoyao, created by Prime Meridian, has partnered with over 3,000 well-known domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies. The platform offers more than 100,000 types of drugs and serves over 500,000 pharmacies and clinics nationwide.
Leveraging Xiaoyaoyao's strong drug distribution capabilities and user advantages, Prime Meridian also launched an internet medical and health service platform for ordinary consumers – Lotus Health – in 2021. This platform includes an online medication shopping mall, consultations, and internet hospitals.
Currently, in addition to its first headquarters in Wuhan and a second headquarters in Beijing, Prime Meridian has established over 60 offices nationwide, covering most provinces. It has also set up multiple pharmaceutical logistics centers and currently employs over 3,000 staff members, the majority of whom are involved in R&D.
"OVC provides a fertile entrepreneurial environment and has provided significant support to Prime Meridian. It is extremely fortunate for us to have started and grown in the valley," said Li Meng, founder of Wuhan Prime Meridian Co.
