On the evening of Jan 22, China Media Group organized its annual awards ceremony for specialized and sophisticated enterprises and related development zones in Beijing. The 2023 Chinese specialized and sophisticated little giant company development report was released on the same day.

The East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) was selected as a national powerhouse for specialized and sophisticated enterprises. Huang Li, from Global Sensor Technology Co, and Sun Xiaorong, from Landing Med Co, won the best performer titles in the specialized and sophisticated enterprise sector. The case submitted by Wuhan Lixin Automation Technology Co has become one of the top 10 typical cases for specialized and sophisticated enterprises.

All the three companies are based in the Optics Valley of China.

China has, so far, cultivated 103,000 specialized and sophisticated small and medium-sized enterprises, among which 12,000 are recognized as little giant companies. About 98.5 percent of such enterprises based in Central China's Hubei province are addressing the weak links of several key industrial fields. Additionally, 37 percent of them have over 30 percent of the national market share.

So far, the OVC has fostered 150 specialized and sophisticated little giant companies, 554 specialized and sophisticated small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as 1,345 innovation-oriented SMEs. Nearly 80 percent of the OVC's resident little giant companies are involved in pillar industries, such as electronic information, high-end equipment, and life and health.
