During the May Day holiday that ran from April 29 to May 3, scenic spots, cultural tourism attractions, and shopping complexes of the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) became increasingly popular for local residents and people living outside Wuhan.
Statistics collected by Meituan, an on-demand service platform, suggested that during the five-day break, Wuhan, Shanghai, Nanjing, Chengdu and Hangzhou were among the top trending cities online, and the OVC business district was among China's three hottest business districts, along with those around the Jiefang Monument in Chongqing and Shanghai Disneyland.
On the night of April 29, the Optics Valley Music Festival was held on the pedestrian street of the valley. As a long-standing brand that has gained traction for 11 years, the festival has welcomed more than 10 million people since its launch.
"Wuhan is a vibrant city, with more and more music forms taking shape and thriving here. As a local brand, the Optics Valley Music Festival is especially popular among college students," said the organizer of the festival.
In addition, the holiday in OVC also featured campfire parties, an animation festival, ice hockey and basketball competitions, book fairs, and camping activities rolled out day and night.
