The Drama Festival of Optics Valley of China kicked off on Jan 14 in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC).

The first performance given in the festival was The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, which was adopted from a fairy tale of the same name having won the Nobel Prize for Literature. It was an adventurous story demonstrating the importance of loyalty and friends to kids.

"The drama was jointly created by us and a British team, and has received much popularity since it was staged publically in Wuhan," said Leng Jiahua, vice president of Wuhan People's Art Theatre.

"We used to travel to very far places to watch operas, now we can enjoy the cultural feast near our home, it is really great!" said a local surnamed Huang.

OVC has been completing cultural facilities for residents, with architecture and sci-tech museums and public libraries established.
