OVC half marathon attracts online participants around nation

The Optics Valley Half Marathon – held by the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province – took place online from Dec 7 to 31 last year.
This year's marathon saw more than 120,000 participants. The top three regions in terms of the number of participants were the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, followed by Shandong and Henan provinces. About 55 percent of participants were male, and 86 percent were aged under 45.

The number of participants based in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen came in at 22,000, accounting for 18 percent of the total

The half marathon had a total length of 21 kilometers, with participants running a total of 1.16 million km, equivalent to running around the earth 29 times.
