The official website of the Hubei Intellectual Property Bureau recently identified six entities to carry out intellectual property right (IPR) operation center projects. Among them, four are based in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC).
The entities include State-owned and private enterprises, IPR service institutions and platforms, universities, advanced research institutes, industrial parks, innovation and entrepreneurship bases, and investment organizations.
The projects will be implemented over the next two years, and are designed to increase sales revenue for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), increasing the number of employees, and help with the formation of a number of patents following international or national standards.
The bureau will focus on the building of the province's "51020" modern industrial system, establish industry-university-research-application integrated platforms, follow the "innovation-technology development-technology transfer-industry clustering" chain, and set up a patent pool to facilitate the innovative development of SMEs.
OVC is among the nation's IPR demonstration industrial parks. In 2021, the valley's had 31,260 approved patents, 11,596 of which were invention patents, accounting for 62.5 percent and 51.5 percent of Wuhan's and Hubei's totals, respectively.
