To celebrate the successful holding of the 20th CPC National Congress, the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) arranged an exhibition on Nov 1 at the OVC public service center to look back on the progress made over the past 10 years.
Having gone from a mere industrial zone to a sci-tech new city, the valley's independent innovation, industries and industry-city integration – corresponding to three display areas, were introduced at the expo.
The independent innovation display area, highlighted three major achievements – OVC's national high-tech firm number ranks fourth in among China's high-tech development zones, OVC's R&D intensity is equal to that of Israel, and OVC's State-level specialized and new little giant companies account for nearly half of Wuhan's total.

At the display area for industries, the performances of the valley's optics, IC, displays, terminals and internet cluster, life and health cluster and other clusters over the past 10 years were showcased.
In the industry-city integration area, the changes in population and talent were highlighted. Over the past decade, the number of permanent residents in the valley reached 1.18 million, with the numbers of college students and corporate employees having tripled and doubled, respectively. The average age of OVC residents currently stands at 32.2.
