A large-scale technological commercialization activity took place recently in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC). It was jointly arranged by the Wuhan science and technology bureau, Wuhan Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the administrative committee of OVC.

Focusing on information technology, it is the largest such activity held by CAS so far this year. A roadshow was held for seven projects, and CAS signed agreements for 15 cooperation projects with Wuhan-based firms, with the contracts valued at 150 million yuan ($22.5 million).

Significant achievements have resulted from the long-term collaboration between CAS and Wuhan. For example, OVC has established a number of major scientific facilities, such as the Wuhan P4 Lab, as well as many platforms to support industrial transformation and emerging industry cultivation, including the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, the biological environment center of the Wuhan Institute of Biotechnology, and the Zhongke Kaiwu Industrial Park.
