A patent application case involving Accelink Technologies Co and Shijia Photons Technology Co handled by Wuhan Intellectual Property Tribunal, based in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), has been included among the 50 Representative Intellectual Property Right (IPR) Cases in China for 2021, issued by the Supreme People's Court, according to an announcement on April 21.
Over the last year, Hubei saw a total of 155,169 authorized patents, a year-on-year increase of 40.93 percent, and reported 16.09 effective patents per 10,000 people, a six-year high.
The tribunal has accepted and heard 24,779 cases over the past three years, 1,965 of which were related to patented technologies.
How did the tribunal hand IP disputes related to architecture, machinery, IC, communication, biomedicine and other categories both quickly and precisely? Firstly, officials of the tribunal are encouraged to push boundaries, while expert juries and witnesses, technology investigators, and professional consultants will also participate if needed.
With renowned technology titans such as Xiaomi, Douyu, Microsoft and Siemens filing lawsuits in Wuhan, the tribunal has been commended for its ability to handle IPR cases.
