Weilai Third Road in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) that connects Wuhan and Ezhou was recently completed. The road is now ready for traffic and has opened for trial operations to light vehicles only during the Spring Festival holiday.
As the main route that links Wuhan Future City and the Honglian Lake Big Data & Cloud Computing Industrial Park in Ezhou, the road is now open to vehicles and has two forced slowdown areas. Rubber speed bumps are placed in a staggered manner.
Many strategic emerging businesses with more than 400 billion yuan ($62.88 billion) in total investment are placed along the road.
"The road will not only facilitate exchanges between Wuhan and Ezhou, but also enhance industrial coordination," said Gong Jun, head of Ezhou's Huarong district.
The two cities will increase the flow of population, capital and technology after the road opens to traffic.
