OVC recognized as new intelligent social governance pilot zone
The East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), employing more than 2 million people, has been recognized as a national intelligent social governance pilot zone.
The base was designed to produce applicable, replicable, and assessable intelligent solutions for general social governance. The OVC authorities will strive to establish future communities and international communities that integrate people's daily life with work and recreation.
The government has carried out plans to improve its social governance capabilities, including building seven major cultural facilities, establishing five tertiary Class-A hospitals, and increasing school capacity by 18,000 students.
The new branch of Hubei Science and Technology Museum entered trial operations in 2021. Meanwhile, a series of cultural facilities in OVC, such as libraries, art galleries, youth activity centers, theaters and concert halls were launched this year, becoming new world-class public cultural landmarks.
There are a total of five municipal hospitals or branches in OVC, with five more medical institutions currently under construction.
The valley has also founded a new school and completed expansion work on six primary and secondary schools, with five more primary schools to conclude construction by the end of this year.
