Construction of the Optics Valley Cultural Center will start before the end of the year, according to a meeting held on May 13 at the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, the capital city of Central China's Hubei province.
The Optics Valley Cultural Center will be a cultural and artistic building cluster in the zone. It will include a library, an art museum, a Party school, a senior university, a cultural center and a youth activity center.
The facility will become a new landmark in Optics Valley and cover a total construction area of about 170,000 square meters.
Since January of last year, the Optics Valley Cultural Center has solicited conceptual design proposals from around the world. The chosen design was selected from 19 finalists.
The building of the Party school will be cube-shaped and 100 meters tall, while the buildings for the art museum and library, youth activity center, and senior university and cultural center will be shaped like three green leaves surrounding the Party school.
The total construction area of the library and art museum will cover 60,000 sq m and will become a benchmark for top international-level cultural venue complexes in Optics Valley.
