Children's hospital in Optics Valley to open in June 2022

A new children's hospital -- located in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone, or the Optics Valley of China, in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province -- is scheduled to open on June 1 next year, and construction of its main structure finished on May 7.
Jointly built by Optics Valley and the Tongji Hospital of Tongji Medical College of HUST -- Huazhong University of Science and Technology -- the facility will have 800 beds, including 70 beds in the international medical department.
The hospital will cover an area of 27,409.6 square meters, with one floor under ground and 10 above the surface. It has nine operating rooms.
The facility is the first tertiary class-A -- the highest of China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals -- children's hospital in Optics Valley. It will boast an international medical department covering 16,000 sq m and will come equipped with international-quality medical equipment.
Currently, Optics Valley is home to five ministry, provincial or municipal-level hospitals. It also has four high-level hospital projects under construction, which on completion will offer comprehensive medical services for residents.
