Seven science and technology venues in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province, were recently designated as the zone's first batch of Party history education bases. The China Architectural Science and Technology Museum is one of them.
As the first museum of architectural science and technology in China, the building consists of a preface hall, a public hall, permanent exhibition areas, temporary exhibition areas, popular science interactive areas and cultural and creative areas.
An exhibition themed around "ordinary heroes create China speed" is currently on show at the museum, exploring the construction of Wuhan's Huoshenshan and Leishenshan hospitals, which were built very quickly to hospitalize and save COVID-19 patients.
The permanent exhibition areas have four exhibitions, namely for ancient architecture, Hubei architecture, modern architecture and the architecture of the future.
The ancient architecture exhibition hall covers an area of 1,100 square meters, and includes models of the east hall of Foguang Temple at Mount Wutai and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda (both in Shanxi province) as well as the Hall of Supreme Harmony (Taihe Dian) at the Palace Museum.
The Hubei architecture exhibition hall covers an area of 820 sq m, and showcases classic examples of architecture in the province.
The modern architecture exhibition hall covers an area of 900 sq m, and displays China's recent history of architectural development using models, photos, and multimedia platforms.
The future architecture exhibition hall covers an area of 570 sq m.
