The 15th Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronic Exposition and Forum (OVC EXPO 2018) will be held at China Optics Valley Convention and Exhibition Center in Wuhan, central China's Hubei province from Nov 14 to 16, according to a news conference held by the Information Office of Hubei Provincial People's Government on Nov 1.

Initiated in 2002, the event has developed into one of the largest professional optoelectronic information expositions in the country.

It is jointly hosted by the country's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Intellectual Property Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Hubei Provincial People's Government.

With the theme of "Light Links World, Wisdom Leads Future", this year's expo will showcase new products, new technologies and new solutions made possible by optoelectronic technology.

The expo will contain five exhibition halls covering an area of 20,000 square meters, providing exhibition stands for more than 400 companies from all over the world.

The five halls represent a laser and optical intelligent manufacturing hall, an optics and precision optics hall, a chip and optical display hall, a frontier application of optoelectronic information hall, and an optical communications and optical sensing technology hall.

One summit forum, 17 themed forums, and seven special activities will be held during the event, with a focus on areas such as core chip technology, laser advanced manufacturing, and 5G optical communications.

More than 400 world-renowned experts will make keynote speeches during the event, including attendees from the United States, Germany and Japan.

It is estimated that over 50,000 visitors will participate in the event, including more than 5,000 experts, scholars and company representatives.

In addition, it is expected that the expo will establish partnerships with three global optical organizations, namely the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), the Optical Society of America (OSA), and the European Optical Society (EOS).
