"Chinese fans are falling in love with tennis, thanks to events like ours and the incredible players who come to compete in Wuhan," Chouquet added.
The star-studded lineup is testament to the organizers' efforts to build a truly global spectacle.
"The players list for this year's Wuhan Open is recognition for the quality of our tournaments," said Zhu Jianbin, tournament director. "I believe they will present an amazing competition for everyone."
China's Li Na, the retired two-time Grand Slam champion, serves as global ambassador for her hometown tournament.
"Wuhan is where I started my tennis career," said Li. "Although I'm no longer a professional player, I'm still so happy to see all my old friends compete here.
"I'm also glad that people in my hometown can see the world's best players in person, which was my dream when I was a young girl."
