Two key roads in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), Wuhan, central China’s Hubei province, opened to traffic on Dec 27, greatly improving traffic conditions in the zone.

The two roads are the second phase of Xiongchu Avenue (Guanshan Avenue – Third Ring Road) elevated road and Keji Fifth Road (Weilai Second Road – Weilai Third Road phase).

Xiongchu Avenue is a vital area in Wuhan’s main urban area, stretching across Wuchang district, Hongshan district and Optics Valley of China.

From Chuping Road to Third Ring Road, the 7.17-kilometer phase is constructed by Optics Valley of China, including matching constructions such as bridges, road drainage systems, and street lamps.

The first phase of the elevated road (Chuping Road – Guanshan Avenue) was completed and opened to traffic in August 2015.

With a total length of 3,780 meters, the two-way six-lane (eight-lane partly) second phase elevated road opened to traffic, greatly improving traffic conditions in the zone and providing convenience for cars travelling within the areas of Wuchang district, Hongshan district and Optics Valley of China.

From Gaoxin Second Road in the west to Zuoling Zheshuwan Road in the east, Keji Fifth Road is 6.2 km long, and the phase that opened to public this time is from Weilai Second Road to Weilai Third Road, with the length of 1.54 km.

The road is vital towards the construction of National Memory Base in the zone. With the opening, it is convenient for transportation of large-scale equipment required before the base starting operation.
