The 14th Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronic Exposition and Forum (OVC EXPO 2017) opened at China Optics Valley Convention and Exhibition Center in Wuhan, Hubei province on Nov 1, attracting more than 12,000 visitors.
Attendees at the opening ceremony included academics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, guests from the China Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization, SolarPower Europe, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, as well as other institutions and organizations.
Experts and scholars from 17 countries and regions including Russia, the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and Malaysia were also present at the event.
Covering an area of 20,000 square meters, the three-day expo has three exhibition halls, providing stands for nearly 500 companies from 15 countries and regions to exhibit their most cutting-edge products and technologies.
At the opening ceremony, representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, China Development Bank and Hubei Provincial Government signed a memorandum of cooperation, to develop the electronic information sector in Hubei province into a mid to high-end industry.
Optics Valley of China signed 12 key projects at the opening day, covering areas such as integrated circuits and intelligent robot operating systems, attracting investment of over 20 billion yuan ($3.03 billion).
The 2017 Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronic Information Industry Summit Forum was held on the opening day. Experts in the artificial intelligence and optoelectronic information sectors discussed upgrading and integrating the two sectors.
