The Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held the 8th culture and history lecture on innovative approaches to cultural heritage protection in Beijing on Dec 4.
Vice-chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee Shao Hong and Jiang Xinzhi attended the gathering.
Officials from the Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies, members of the CPPCC National Committee, and about 70 representatives connected to the Jiu San Society, as well as the literature, arts, press, and publications sectors, participated in the event at the main venue in Beijing. About 600 people attended the lecture via video link at other venues across China, including some prestigious universities such as Peking University.
Li Qun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, former vice-minister of culture and tourism and former director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, gave a lecture about promoting innovative approaches to cultural heritage protection.
Li also answered questions from CPPCC members and representatives of teachers and students following his lecture, and engaged in discussions with them.
Participants recognized that cultural heritage is an important part of fine Chinese traditional culture and a testament to the development of Chinese civilization. They called for actively protecting cultural heritage and making contributions to building China into a cultural powerhouse.
The Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies regards this series of lectures as an important platform to implement the CPPCC National Committee's "serving the people" initiative. Leveraging its advantages and adhering to a people-oriented philosophy, the committee aims to develop a distinctive brand.
