The Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports, one of the ten special committees of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), held its third plenary meeting in Beijing on Jan 3.

The meeting was held to review the special committee's work in 2024 and discuss work plans for 2025.

Chen Wu and Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairmen of the CPPCC National Committee, both addressed the meeting.

It was noted that, in 2024, the special committee prioritized work on strengthening ideological and political guidance and building consensus, achieving outstanding results in fulfilling its duties, offering suggestions, advancing public opinion work, implementing the "serving the people" initiative and building a "home for CPPCC members". These efforts contributed to maximizing the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body for advancing the work of the Party and State.

The meeting highlighted that, in 2025, the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports should leverage its unique strengths, and organize its members to conduct in-depth research, engage in effective consultation and democratic supervision, and build broad consensus on key issues in the education, science, health and sports fields.

The meeting also urged the special committee to enhance forward planning, innovation, focus and effectiveness in its work, in a bid to implement the Communist Party of China Central Committee's decisions and plans and contribute to advancing Chinese modernization.
