Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team to Southwest China's Guizhou province from Nov 11 to 15 to conduct a survey on efforts to raise public awareness of the importance of national defense.

The CPPCC team travelled to the cities of Guiyang, Bijie and Zunyi, and Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, where they conducted surveys at research enterprises, schools, communities, military camps and historical revolutionary sites. Through discussions with company executives, researchers, teachers, students, grassroots officials, community members and military personnel, they gained an insight into Guizhou's progress and innovative approaches in enhancing public awareness of national defense. The team also provided suggestions tailored to local circumstances.

The team said it is important to strengthen organizational leadership and coordination to further enhance the national defense education framework. They called for efforts to adopt innovative, results-oriented approaches and to expand the scope and channels of national defense education by integrating patriotic education with national defense mobilization and military-civilian cooperation, ensuring effective implementation of various initiatives.

The team pledged to leverage the expertise of CPPCC National Committee members, summarize successful practices, and contribute feasible recommendations to deliver high-quality outcomes.
