The Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) conducted a survey from May 27 to June 3 in East China's Shandong and South China's Hainan provinces, on advancing industrial cooperation and creating a common market across the Taiwan Strait.
Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-government League (TDSL), headed the research team in Shandong and delivered a speech at a seminar held in the province.
The research team visited Jinan and Qingdao in Shandong, and Haikou, Qionghai, Baoting in Hainan to learn about local practices, experiences and existing difficulties in industrial cooperation and cross-Strait common market development.
They also held symposiums to exchange ideas with local officials and representatives of Taiwan business associations and Taiwan businessmen, to make preparations for the teleseminar to be jointly organized by the TDSL Central Committee and the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese.
The research team said that the statements made in the report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on strengthening cross-Strait development had pointed out the direction and provided guidance for deepening cross-Strait economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, as well as boosting all-round integrated development.
They suggest that more practical and flexible policies and measures be introduced to meet the needs of Taiwan enterprises and compatriots and to bring them more benefits.
