Social credit system needs strengthening and improvement

China banned people with poor credit records from buying airline tickets 17.46 million times and purchasing train tickets 5.47 million times between October 2013 and December 2018, a spokesman said on Saturday.

Establishing the social credit system is an urgent matter that needs to be further strengthened and improved. People deeply resent those who lack credibility, but acts like fraud still exist, Guo Weimin, spokesman for the second session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said during a news conference.

"The State Council issued an outline to build a social credit system between 2014 and 2020. We have accelerated the establishment of the system based on the outline, including setting up a credit record inquiry system and integrating different credit record systems," he said.

CPPCC members have raised many proposals on establishing the social credit system, which takes a long time to perfect. Also, the reward and punishment measures need to be further improved, Guo said.

"Our goal is to make it difficult for those with no credibility to move a single step and ensure those with good credibility enjoy green lights all the way," he said.

Artificial intelligence has shown broad application prospects, accompanied by the rapid growth of the internet, big data, supercomputing and other new technologies, said Guo Weimin, spokesman for the second session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.

The first biweekly consultative meeting of the 13th CPPCC National Committee concentrated on AI, and experts, scholars and business leaders were invited to conduct in-depth research with CPPCC members to offer opinions and suggestions, Guo said at a news conference on Saturday.

Guo added the CPPCC will further boost the integration of AI with the real economy, as well as lift the overall development of AI to a new level.
