Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) is located in the southeastern part of Beijing and enjoys a strategic geographical location with convenient transportation.  

It is adjacent to the city's Fifth Ring Road and Sixth Ring Road. The nearby Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway (part of the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway), Airport Expressway, urban expressways, main city roads, and urban light rail system provide the area with well-connected routes and various transportation options.

It is closely linked with sea and air ports as well as logistics centers, and is only 25 kilometers from the Beijing Capital Airport, 35 kilometers from Beijing Daxing International Airport, 140 kilometers from Tianjin Port, and 110 kilometers from Xiong'an New Area.

Eight kilometers to the area's west is Beijing Nanyuan Airport, which operates international flights, and 15 minutes to the north is the Beijing Railway Freight Station.

Three main roads lead to the city's major railway stations such as Beijing Railway Station, Beijing West Station, Beijing South Station, and Beijing North Station.

The area's subway Yizhuang Line began construction in 2007 and operation in 2010.

Yizhuang Line starts from the southern terminus of Songjiazhuang Station on Line 5, and extends to Yizhuang Railway Station, a transfer station for the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway (partially operational).

Four more rail transit lines are planned, including M12, L5, L2 branch, and S6.

Thanks to the advantages in location and transport, the area is a crucial part of Beijing's overall urban development plan, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei industrial belt, as well as the Bohai Economic Rim.
