On August 6, the representatives of Samsung including Kim Subong, Lee BongJoo and Shin Jaeho visited XJTU to discuss strategic cooperation between the two institutions. XJTU Vice President Song Xiaoping met with the visiting guests in the meeting room on the fifth floor of the Main Building. A number of concerned parties, including members of the Administrative Committee of Xi'an's High Tech District also attended the meeting.

Vice President Song gave the visitors a presentation on the historical background, the development, the scientific research program and the advantages of XJTU. The vice president for human resources from the global headquarter of Samsung Semiconductor Mr. Lee BongJoo then spoke about the company, its current development plans and its opportunities for growth in China. The two parties exchanged ideas on the international cooperation between the two institutions on production, as well as research projects, and then drafted a preliminary statement concerning proposed areas of cooperation. Following the meeting, the visiting guests toured the university's Moving to the West Historical Museum.
