Osaka University Professor Hidekazu Murakawa lectures on campus
At the invitation of Professor Zhang Jianxun of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Professors Hidekazu Murakawa and Fumiyoshi Minami of the Joining and Welding Research Institute of Osaka University visited XJTU from April 27 to April 30. During their visit, Professor Hidekazu Murakawa delivered an academic lecture entitled "A Computational Approach to Welding Deformation and Residual Stress" to the teachers and students of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, in which he discussed recent work being done at Osaka University in the field of computational welding mechanics. He explained the inherent strain theory and its applications in the welding of large structures and he described the knowledge and requirements of large Japanese enterprises concerning with welding mechanics. Professor Fumiyoshi Minami reported on "Recent Development of JWRIAN for Computational Welding Mechanics." In the course of his talk, he described recent research progress related to the welding stress deformation software JWELD, developed by the International Computational Welding Mechanics Research Center of Osaka University.
