At a press conference held on the morning of April 9, it was announced that the School of Management had earned accreditation from AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).

AACSB International, headquartered in Tampa, Florida (USA), is the authoritative accrediting body for institutions offering undergraduate, master's, and doctorate degrees in business and accounting. Founded in 1916, its founding members included Harvard University, Columbia University, Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University and the University of Wisconsin. AACSB accreditation represents the highest level of achievement for business schools around the world.

In order to earn this accreditation, the School of Management had to pass through a rigorous and demanding evaluation process. Currently, less than 5% of the world's business schools have earned AACSB accreditation, which is the premier mark of excellence in business education. Before the latest awards were announced, only three universities in mainland China, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and China-Europe International Business School, had been accredited by AACSB. Also receiving accreditation this year, in addition to XJTU, was Shanghai Jiaotong University.

The announcement came as particularly good news because it coincided with the celebration of the 115th anniversary of XJTU's founding, and the 55th anniversary of its move to Xi'an.
