The Supreme People’s Court (SPC) has collaborated with the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) to release typical cases of providing accessible litigation services and dispute resolution for people with disabilities.

The release of the cases aims to summarize and promote effective practices of courts working with disabled persons' federations in implementing the guidelines on providing better litigation services for people with disabilities, which were jointly released by the SPC and the CDPF in February last year. 

Since the document was issued, measures have been improved to actively promote the construction of a barrier-free environment in litigation service centers. By the end of 2024, a total of 326 mediation organizations and 947 mediators from disabled persons' federations around the country had joined the people's courts mediation platform to participate in mediation and dispute resolution, resulting in 61 successful mediation cases, with six cases included in the diversified dispute resolution case database.

The newly released six typical cases fully demonstrate the close collaboration between courts and disabled persons' federations at various levels in providing litigation services and diversified dispute resolution for people with disabilities.

For instance, the Qingdao Intermediate People's Court in East China’s Shandong province, together with the Qingdao Disabled Persons' Federation, utilized a "1+N" mediation mechanism to resolve disputes related to labor contracts involving people with disabilities, effectively safeguarding their equal employment rights. 

In another typical case, the Haidian District People's Court in Beijing identified cases involving people with disabilities at the filing stage and provided accessible litigation services and successfully resolved disputes related to training contracts through mediation, effectively addressing their urgent concerns.

The SPC and the CDPF will uphold a people-centered approach, expand judicial services, enhance efficiency of dispute resolution, and protect the rights and interests of people with disabilities, fostering a positive atmosphere in society that encourages understanding, respect, care, support, and assistance for people with disabilities.
