Tao Kaiyuan meets with director of USPTO
On April 16, Vice-President of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China Tao Kaiyuan met with Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Kathi Vidal at the SPC headquarters in Beijing.
Tao acknowledged the long-term friendly cooperative relations between China and the US in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection and the continuous communications between judicial organs of the two countries, which have yielded positive results. China has always attached great importance to IPR protection, she said, adding that the SPC is willing to further strengthen cooperation with the American side on judicial protection of IPR, in a bid to reach consensus, enhance mutual understanding and jointly promote new development in this regard in the two countries.
The two sides held in-depth exchanges on such topics as the overall situation of IPR judicial protection in China, the application of artificial intelligence in China's judiciary, China's judicial transparency and information about the China Judgements Online and China’s online archive for judicial cases, and the judicial protection of American IPR holders in China.
Vidal thanked Tao for the meeting and spoke highly of the proficiency of Chinese courts in IPR adjudication. She raised her hope for further candid communications and cooperation with China's SPC in IPR protection.
