Caribbean Court Justice: Online Courts Bear the Fruits of Justice and Fairness in Information Age
Adrian Dudley Saunders, president of the Caribbean Court of Justice, says it is a common challenge to further realize modern judicial regulation via today's new technology. He was speaking at the World Forum on Rule of Law in the Internet on Dec 5 in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province. He shared his views on development of online courts which should have conventional elements, be informative, supported by telecommunications and technology and be fully virtual online. He also mentioned that there are online courts in the Caribbean now but not all judicial work can be done through the internet. According to Saunders, to date platforms for electronic filing and application, a self-service system for judges, auto-generation of records as well as video and audio conferences have been adopted by Caribbean courts; he added that online courts need to handle disputes efficiently and easily to meet the public's demands of justice and fairness in the information age.
