The Supreme People's Court (SPC) held a press conference on Dec 4 to release a white paper on Chinese courts and internet judiciary.

Li Shaoping, SPC's vice-president and the head of the SPC's judicial reform office, and presidents of the internet courts in Beijing, Hangzhou and Guangzhou attended the press conference, which was hosted by the SPC's Spokesperson Li Guangyu.

According to Li, the white paper is not only China's but also the world's first white paper on the subject of internet judiciary.

Li said that with the world entering the internet age, information technology, while profoundly changing people's lives and production activities, presents judicial organizations with unprecedented opportunities and challenges.

Faced with a new age, technological advances, the demand for rule of law and people's needs, China's courts, by keeping up with the new age and taking into account China's actual situation, have vigorously explored a new judicial mode suitable for the internet age and promoted the full-scale and in-depth integration of information technology into judicial activities in order to facilitate the modernization of the trial system and capacity.
