The 17th Shanxi Provincial Games concluded on Aug 19, with the Linfen delegation scoring 2,671 points. The team claimed 70 gold, 83 silver, and 104 bronze medals, for a total of 257, securing the fourth place across Shanxi province. This marks a notable improvement from their sixth-place finish in the previous games, surpassing their pre-competition target of 60 gold medals and 2,400 points.

In athletics, Linfen earned 11 gold, 10 silver, and 5 bronze medals, while shooting brought home 13 gold, 12 silver, and 10 bronze medals. The "big three" team sports – basketball, football, and volleyball – collectively contributed 10 gold medals. Additionally, Linfen ranked first in both gold medals and total points in taekwondo and karate events. The delegation participated in all 35 competitive categories of the Games.

In community sports, Linfen participated in all 23 disciplines, securing eight first prizes, 21 second prizes, and 25 third prizes.
At the closing ceremony, Linfen received the provincial games flag and was officially named the host city for the 18th Shanxi Provincial Games in 2030.
