A delegation led by Andrew Mwadime, governor of Taita Taveta county in Kenya, recently visited Dongying city – located in East China's Shandong province – to participate in the 2025 Yellow River Estuary International Friendly Cities Conference for Cooperation and Exchange.

The delegation received a warm welcome on arrival and during the conference, members gave briefings on Taita Taveta's investment environment and cooperation priorities, engaging in productive discussions with local business enterprises. Several initial cooperation intentions were reached, marking a promising start for future collaboration.
The delegation also joined a forum on education cooperation and attended the unveiling ceremony of the Dongying International Industrial College.
Its members then visited Taita Taveta students currently studying at the Dongying Vocational Institute, encouraging them to learn from Dongying's strengths in vocational education.
In addition, the delegation toured the saline-alkali soil demonstration base and held in-depth discussions on agricultural innovation – including smart farming technologies and the industrial application of saline-alkali soil treatment.

The visit is said to have substantively strengthened ties between Dongying and Taita Taveta county – highlighting shared goals in education, agriculture and in economic development. The warm hospitality and fruitful exchanges underscored Dongying's role as a hub for international friendship and cooperation.
