Global fishing gear gathers in Weihai

The three-day China (Weihai) International Fishing Tackle Expo brought its sixteenth year to a close on Oct 14.
The expo attracted a total of 1,000 exhibitors from China and abroad, drawing nearly 60,000 buyers and fishing enthusiasts. The event resulted in intended transaction of international trade amounting to $150 million and domestic trade reaching 590 million yuan ($76 million).
Covering an exhibition area of approximately 60,000 square meters, the expo utilized all the five halls of the Weihai International Economic and Trade Exchange Center for the first time. Outdoor spaces such as plazas and galleries were also maximized for large-scale exhibits covering fishing boats, yachts, and recreational vehicles, placing the expo as the second largest in terms of exhibition area among fishing tackle expos nationwide.
"It's impossible to see everything in just one day," said Zhang Huan, the product manager of a local fishing tackle factory, emphasizing the vast scale of this year's exhibition. "We are both exhibitors and buyers. Having the expo right at our doorstep is really convenient and has allowed us to forge numerous partnerships."
One of the biggest perks of the fishing expo was its high level of internationalization. The quality of this year's expo was further elevated with a noticeable increase in the participation of major enterprises and renowned brands. A total of 245 companies set up specially designed booths, with these booths occupying over 50 percent of the total exhibition area.
