Leaf carving, listed as a representative Jinan intangible cultural heritage item, is an art form that involves creating intricate designs by hollowing out parts of a leaf.

The process begins by transferring a pattern or text in reverse onto a clean and fresh leaf. Then, a carving knife is used to gradually remove the leaf's flesh and reveal the design, giving shape to the initial leaf carving.

The piece undergoes processes such as pressing, painting, and drying. After about a month, the artwork is complete, resulting in a vividly colored and lifelike leaf carving.
