The first session of the 13th Shandong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference opened on Jan 12 in Jinan, capital of Shandong province.

During the session, members of the committee, which is the province's political consultative body, will focus on the promotion of Shandong's social and economic development. Proposals will then be submitted to the CPPCC Shandong Committee.

Ge Huijun, chairwoman of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, delivered the annual work report of the Standing Committee of the 12th Shandong Provincial Committee of the CPPCC for the past year, reviewing the committee's achievements in the last year and its plans for this year.
