Shohrat Zakir, vice-chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, attended and addressed the opening ceremony of a seminar for parliamentarians from Central Asian countries in Beijing on June 22.
He said that exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies of China and Central Asian countries should prioritize implementing the important consensus reached by heads of state, provide rule-of-law safeguards for practical bilateral cooperation, consolidate public support for enduring friendship and strengthen multilateral collaboration to promote international fairness and justice.
Thirty parliamentarians and officials from the five Central Asian countries, namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, participated in the event.
