BEIJING -- China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with Prime Minister of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhao, chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said China is willing to work with Egypt to align the Belt and Road Initiative with Egypt's Vision 2030, deepen cooperation in fields such as infrastructure, industry, culture and tourism, and promote people-to-people exchanges.

China's NPC is willing to strengthen friendly cooperation with the Egyptian parliament and deepen the exchanges of experience in legislation, supervision and other work, he said.

Egypt abides by the one-China principle, Madbouly said, adding that the country is willing to work with China to deepen cooperation in various fields including the legislative bodies, advance Belt and Road cooperation, and achieve common development.
