A team led by Ding Zhongli, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, inspected the enforcement of the Environmental Protection Law in East China's Jiangsu province from June 11 to 14.

During the inspection, the team listened to reports by the provincial government and relevant departments before visiting several environment-related project venues in the cities of Nanjing and Yangzhou.

The team inspected industrial companies, pollution management plants, drinking water sources and ecological restoration projects. They also held three meetings to listen to the ideas and suggestions of lawmakers, grassroots officials, experts, and environmental protection workers.

Ding hailed Jiangsu's efforts and achievements in the enforcement of the law, including the formulation of systematic standards and regional laws, commitment to industrial transformation, and solid steps in environmental conservation.

He also urged the province to explore more science-based, cost-effective measures to effectively address environmental challenges.
