Guo Jianren, Party secretary of Yuanzihe village in Zhangjiakou, Hebei province

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games created opportunities for villages in Zhangjiakou. In my village, houses controlled by smart technologies, eco-friendly public facilities and organic farms have been built in recent years. Our village alone had 10,000 visitors last year because of green tourism. All those changes have led to a significant increase in annual per capita income among villagers, from 5,000 yuan ($791) to 20,000 yuan. Winter sports are now deeply rooted in Zhangjiakou. We will play to our advantages and further develop the sports and wellness industries, as well as green energy to achieve sustainable, high-quality development.

Yang Rong, community police officer in Taiyuan, Shanxi province

I have been working as a community police officer for 30 years. Ever since I was elected as a deputy to the National People's Congress in 2018, I have combined doing my job well with fulfilling my legislative duties. Years of experience in my community have allowed me to uncover problems, such as family issues and troubles involving children. After visiting many schoolteachers, parents and left-behind children and consulting legal experts, I submitted a motion related to the legislation of family education, which has been adopted. The law took effect earlier this year. Its adoption has been a great inspiration, encouraging me to better perform my duties. It has also helped me better understand whole-process democracy.

Liu Xiya, principal of Xiejiawan Primary School in Chongqing

The 'double reduction' policy, or reducing the burdens of homework and extracurricular tutoring, is not meant to undermine students' test scores or performance, but to restructure the education system. Some may worry that students will now perform poorly, as schools have reduced their academic burden, but the key to solving this problem is to improve the quality of classroom teaching. Every student is different and should not be held to the same standards or made to follow the same path of development.

Lu Wenjun, deputy general manager of China First Heavy Industries Co

China's equipment manufacturing workers have the confidence and determination to strengthen the industry. Having been engaged in the industry for more than 30 years, my most profound experience is seeing generations of workers, who have grown up and overcome difficulties, to dare to be their best and create miracles.
