Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress on the Functions and Duties of the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress

 

(Adopted at the 3rd Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Thirteenth National People's Congress on June 22, 2018)

 

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Constitution, the Thirteenth National People’s Congress decided at its First Session to establish the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress. The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress hereby makes the following decision regarding the functions and duties of the Constitution and Law Committee:

1. The Constitution and Law Committee shall undertake the functions and duties of the “Law Committee” provided for in the Organic Law of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, the Legislation Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Supervision by the Standing Committees of the People’s Congresses at All Levels, the Rules of Procedure for the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, and the Rules of Procedure for the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China.

2. The Constitution and Law Committee shall, in addition to deliberating on the draft laws, be responsible for promoting the implementation of the Constitution, carrying out the work concerning interpretation of the Constitution, pushing forward constitutionality review, enhancing constitutional oversight, and assisting the publicity of the Constitution.
