Talent, innovation help drive Tongzhou's industrial development
Tongzhou district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been boosting innovative development to drive local industrial development in recent years.
The district's efforts include cultivating and recruiting more talents.
Since last year, the district has held eight entrepreneurship contests, which helped introduce 94 high-end talents.
Tongzhou has also established 6,000 high-standard talent apartments to attract more high-profile talents.
The district implemented the "510 talent plan" 10 years ago, and authorities have provided subsidies of over 300 million yuan ($43.27 million) for 347 talent projects.
In addition, authorities have conducted a plan that provides talents who start a business in Tongzhou with financial support, aiming to alleivate financial stress on recently established companies in the district.
Last year, 12 enterprises benefited from the plan and received a total of 150 million yuan in loans.
Furthermore, local high-tech enterprises have received a total of 65 million yuan in subsidies.
Due to support from authorities, the district's industrial development has made remarkable progress.
Last year, 62 additional high-tech enterprises began operating in the district, a record high for Tongzhou.
In addition, Tongzhou's industrial cluster of electronic components is the only one in Nantong to be designated a provincial innovative cluster.
