The industrial cluster of electronic components in the Nantong High-tech Zone in Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, made the first group of provincial innovative industrial clusters, local media reported.
This provincial recognition is a result of Tongzhou's efforts in advancing high-tech industries.
Official data shows that Tongzhou is currently home to 55 "little giant" enterprises and 324 high-tech companies.
The output value of high-tech enterprises above designated size accounts for 42 percent of the district's total.
Among the high-tech enterprises is Nantong Gangfeng Technology Co Ltd, which is mainly engaged in the production of third-generation semiconductors.
Since setting up operations in the district, the district authorities have provided the company with things such as factories and talent apartments, said Shi Guangshen, vice president of the enterprise.
The auto parts industry has developed into one of the leading industries in Tongzhou, and the Tongzhou High-tech Zone is currently home to more than 100 enterprises in the industry.
Aptiv Connection Systems (Nantong) Co Ltd located in the zone mainly produces safety restraint system (SRS) connectors, and its products are global leaders in the airbag wire harness field.
From Jan-Oct of this year, the enterprise's taxable turnover exceeded 1.2 billion yuan ($167.84 million).
In September, the auto parts industrial base in the Nantong High-tech zone was designated an industry base of the China Torch Program.
